A little after 5 a.m. on July 4, Cheswold was alerted to assist the Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna on a building fire at Fairways Inn located on South Dupont Blvd on the banks of the scenic Leipsic River. Crews from Cheswold arrived and assisted with ventilation and overhaul of the building. Cheswold units on scene-Rescue 43 & Engine 43-2 Smryna Fire Chief Issac Hankins was in command. Leipsic Fire Company was also on the scene. This fire has been ruled an arson.
