Cheswold - swold firefighters and EMT's staffed the station around the clock from Friday night into Sunday night to ensure a prompt response to emergencies. So far, several EMS calls have been handled as well as some service requests from local residents.

We have served as staging location for Kent County Paramedics, Delaware State Police, and the National Guard during the emergency.

Fast Landing Road - swold was dispatched for a car accident in the 1200 block of Fast Landing Road. After some difficulty locating the vehicle, it was discovered in a stream. The jeep had suffered severe damage and the victim had gotten out and walked to a nearby house. He was transported to Kent General after calling for paramedics.

Cheswold Fire House - our January monthly meeting, Singer Associates delivered our new rescue/pumper. The members got a chance to look it over before it went back to Singer's Middletown service center for it's pre-delivery inspection. We hope to have it in service within the next month.

Benefit for Bernie Wales

Cheswold - Friday, January 8, 2010, a fundraiser will be held at the Cheswold Fire Hall to benefit Past Assistant Chief Bernie Wales. Bernie was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer on October 25, 2008.

Appleton, WI - December 16th and 17th, Members of Cheswold visited Pierce's plant to see new pumper/rescue.

Special Operations Team Training

Cheswold - monthly training was held for the Special Operations Team at Cheswold firehouse. About 15 members attended and performed a simulated confined space rescue using Cheswold's rescue truck. The truck has a roof hatch that served as the opening in a tank. Members developed a plan to remove the victim and then entered the space.
