Chimney Fire

584 Lynnbury Woods Road - May 11 at 1859 Hours, Cheswold responded to a reported Chimney fire at an Amish residence on Lynnbury Woods Road. Upon arrival, Deputy Brown on E432 reported smoke coming from house and chimney. Crews from 432 pulled two handlines and 434 laid a 5" supply line up the driveway. Station 44 was alerted for a Tanker Company Assist. A crew laddered the roof while others went inside the house to extinguish......

Live Fire Training

Seven Hickories Road - swold Fire Company had live fire training in a house on several nights. Leipsic Fire Company joined in on the training on one of the nights. These are some of the images from the training. The only injury was the untimely death of a 4' black snake who resided in the home. He was rescued by Asst. Chief Whitby, but succumbed to his injuries prior to transport.

Dodgeball night in Smryna

Smyrna Middle School - swold went on the road to face off against the boys (and girl) from Citizens Hose of Smryna. After being greeted by Assistant Chief Willis, we started the evening with stretching led by one of Smyrna's more athletic firefighters and then got into the game. Several games were played between teams made up of members of both companies. Smyrna taught us a new variation of the game called "Jailbreak"......

Second close call in 2 days

Dover Meadows - swold was about to participate in a fitness night with our fellow firefighters from Citizens Hose of Smyrna when we were dispatched to a house fire in the 100 block of Lakshman Trail in the Dover Meadows development. Upon arrival, the crew of 43-2 found another stove top fire that had been extinguished by the occupants. The kitchen was checked to make sure the fire was out and units cleared.

House fire response during training

Central Church Road - swold was conducting training on Seven Hickories Road when Kent Center notified us of a house fire in the 1600 block of Central Church Road. Engine 43-2 arrived to find a small kitchen fire that had been extinguished by the occupants. Units on scene made sure the fire was out and blew the smoke out of the home.

Chief Roy was in command.

Cheswold Assists Milford w/ Hotel Fire
4.13.2009
604 Bay Road - 0746 Hours, Cheswold and several other companies from Kent County were dispatched to assist Milford with single engine assists. 432 responded with Captain Cerutti onboard. 432 arrived and crew assited with extinguishing the fire while 432's operator and FF Bush helped with a water shuttle. Chewsold's crew arrived back in station at 1252 hours.
