Dodgeball night in Smryna - Smyrna Middle SchoolThursday, July 2, 2015
Cheswold went on the road to face off against the boys (and girl) from Citizens Hose of Smryna. After being greeted by Assistant Chief Willis, we started the evening with stretching led by one of Smyrna's more athletic firefighters and then got into the game. Several games were played between teams made up of members of both companies. Smyrna taught us a new variation of the game called "Jailbreak" that we believe was inspired by the "Smyrna Hilton" located east of town. It was a lot of fun and created some long games that really got everyone's heart rates up.
After a brief intermission, we played more games including two games of our 10 players versus 10 of Smryna's in straight dodgeball. Cheswold was victorious in both games (we have been practicing a lot).
We ended the night with more stretching and many handshakes.
Thanks to Smyrna for the invitation. It was a great night and we hope to do it again after our bodies stop aching.
