Last night Cheswold was at the Delaware State Fire School training on our new tower ladder when Dover was dispatched for a fire on the DSU campus. Dover's officer arrived to find a large barn on fire and requested assistance. Cheswold was alerted for a RIT response, so Chief Dempsey sent Engine 43-3 from the fire school. He also advised Dover that our tower ladder was at the school and available even though it was not yet officially in service. The tower was put into service to knock down the large volume of fire along with several deck guns from Dover. Once the fire was knocked down, crews from Dover, Cheswold, Little Creek, and Leipsic moved in and extinguished the remaining hot spots. Engine 43-2 also made the response and the Citizens Hose Company of Smyrna covered Cheswold during the fire.
